Fruit Loops

Austin is one of the weirdest places, but what's new? This weekend was a wonderful one to be in Austin, TX. I'm talking great weather, food, and friends. It started off with a friend that I quickly realized I've known for 6 whole years! My problem was that I didn't realize this until our hangout was over. His name is Steven Fuller and we met through a mutual friend my freshman year of high school. Within the last two years, we have maintained to keep up the same routine. The usual: Torchy Taco's for lunch and Zilker for catch up! Every time Steven maintains to take this exact picture featured. This friendship has been one of the best, full of inside jokes and giggles!
Later on that evening my best friend from Houston came into town for my post-birthday celebrations. Kristyn Wade came in and it was so natural having her around. Friday night my family and her got together and had dinner at the classic: Central Market Cafe. It was polka night. Live music, kids, dancing, the works! My salad was satisfying. Immediately after we went to Amy's Ice Cream and this is what blew everyone's mind: Jacqueline got Fruit Loops flavored ice cream, called Saturday Morning Cartoons. Later on that night Kristyn, Jacqueline, and I played Candyland at one of my favorite coffeeshops in town, Epoch Coffee over on N. West Loop.

We all woke up in the morning to a wonderful Saturday home prepared breakfast. For the last week or so I've been planning this Saturday to being dedicated to a sunny day at the lake's famous Volente Beach Waterpark. It was such a random place to go, but I figured why not take a trip down memory lane and go!? It was just what I needed. Friends, food, and laughs (screams down the Sidewinder)! What really made me sad was that our dear friend Cassandra couldn't make it out! She just had her wisdom teeth removed and yucky bacteria could of gotten in there! We ended the night perfectly, two high school classic movies: Can't Hardly Wait and Clueless! Best friends and slogans. What else could a girl ask for? Well maybe a few other things but that is beside the point. What I got that day was unconditional love and dedication from loyal friends. And that made me happy.

Sunday Morning we all woke up to a treat! My mom surprised (well it might of been Jacqueline?) us with the idea of going out to breakfast! The whole family and Kristyn went out to the newly renovated Kerbey Lane on South Lamar. It was so so so so good. The perfect breakfast. After that we went onto the Bankrupt Roomstore and checked out what they had and tried to see what could or couldn't work in my new apartment in the fall. Well guess what, we bought a dining room table/desk! I am so excited for the future. Then we went to the one and only World Market and bought my new curtains for the living room. I AM SO EXCITED! Everything is falling into place. It was the perfect ending to a lovely weekend.

Upcoming events/ Future Plans:
-This week I really want to dedicate time at Zilker and Barton Springs. I need to get some sun!
-ACC summer school classes start this week.
-Coffee cravings begin because school has arrived.
-Memorial Day plans?
-New movies coming out!

I'm so excited for the future. I get a schedule again! I'm currently watching Sex and the City and I think I have a lot of thinking about upcoming blog posts. Namnamnamaste.

nineteenth birthday

hello good readers,
I am here with a report of my birthday festivities! well friday was the actual day and it was very calm, collected, and family orientated. I was awaken promptly at 7:30 am to be showered with presents. the presents were all things that will be going into my new apartment in the fall so I was very happy about that. actually on wednesday the girls (cass kris and linds) presented me with some gifts! it was so nice and special that they did that. anyway at 10 am the doorbell rang and in comes old friends from high school! jessica hall, alex reed, kelly cromack, and sarah champagne! it was so nice catching up with all of those girls! we made crepes...and they were so delicious! I had some with peanut butter, bananas, and strawberries! SO SO GOOD. after we visited and recollected all the memories and talked about new ones. there was one thing I discovered! these girls were going to be in my life forever, because their lives are so interesting to me. we are all headed to different directions and life is taking us to completely different ends of the spectrum. I would love to see where and how everyone ends up. after this lindsey pedersen arrived swiftly at noon and she had a chance to catch up with them! it was so great, like high school times again. lindsey had insisted that the place where she was taking me to lunch was left as a surprise and that made it more fun for me. on the way there she revealed that we were going to Elizabeth's Street Cafe, a French-Vietnamese restaurant on South 1st street! it was so yummy! If you are ever in Austin and want to go to there here is the menu, click here. here are some picture highlights of lindsey and I:

after lunch we went to sweet caroline's snow ball stand (new orleans style) it was a treat! lindsey brought me home at 2:45 and then onto the next thing....I went to my 3rd cousin's UT graduation party! it was north on I-35 at Papasito's! ironically, I ran into my beloved friend cat (carlos) salinas there! honestly seeing him was a blessing and that is what happens with me a lot: fate brings me people I love. when we got home from the graduation party I went straight to my room and crashed for a bit. then my sister and I watched both sisterhood of the traveling pants until 2:30 am. needless to say my birthday was peaceful and full of love. I was a bit ignorant for a bit because of my idiotic expectations. but I got over that really fast.
saturday we all woke up and got ready to head out to san antonio to catch the andy warhol: fame or misfortune exhibit at the mcnay museum in alamo heights! of course my family wanted to see the permanent collection so we did. here are some of my favorite highlights:

after the museum my dad drove my mom, my sister and I to gruene, tx! we went and had lunch at the gristmill and it was so lovely!

I had a tortilla soup!

overall I had a lovely birthday and it only continues to next saturday when we all reunite on the lake!

lalallalaalala im 19 and life is rolling along.

last day of being 18

hello my dears,
today is the last day I am going to be 18. what should I be feeling? where should I go? what adventure should I embark on? well surprisingly a lot of people have asked me if I feel any older and the truth is I actually do. well maybe I just feel more mature? since adrian turned 28 and moving back home over the summer I have been left feeling the drift from childhood. is it sad? well yes of course but I also like the idea of the four kids growing up. here I am at one am listening to antonio jobim and sipping on my ice cold water ranting on about how "old" I feel when I really need to be honest to myself and those who are reading this: IM SCARED. as a consistent planner, ocd(er), dramatic daily impulsive woman I have found that it is becoming harder and harder to come up with things to do without spending a lot of money. life is getting to be really expensive and sometimes I just wish I can start with a clean slate and whoa whoa during my add tangent on tumblr i came across this:

that is so randomly perfect, that timing was impeccable.
today well the 16th I went to the new Alamo Drafthouse and I voted for the first time. So I exercised my right to vote! wahoo! it was a very cool and uplifting feeling and it had to be done to get things done in our life. anyway I planned tomorrow to start the morning off around 8 or 9 and work out. that NEEDS to happen, you are all reading this and if I don't post later on that I did I will be set with mental punishment. my plan is to run the trail at a park and then go on to le coffeshop and continue reading Sophie's World and write in the second volume of my lifelong memoir. well here we go here we go. I need to put lotion on my hands immediately! and I need to do it for awhile...they are getting dry. anyway I will stop ranting and hopefully go off to bed. goodnight lovely world.

Mother's Day & Brother's Birthday

I know this is quite late but I would rather post this sooner than later. So Mother's Day was a hit! We started off the morning by delivering presents to her in bed and she had a lovely set of gifts this year! Then we went out to eat to Toyko Teppan in Oak Hill, Javier sadly couldn't make it because he had to work! But that was delicious here are some pictures:

That was a 5 course meal! It was all so delicious! Momma was sad that Javier couldn't make it but we all know that there are other times later on! After that meal we all went out to Lake Travis for Adrian's 28th birthday celebration. It had been since last year's Memorial Day weekend since we all had been out there so about a year! Here are some GREAT highlights from the day out on the lake:

all and all it was a lovely weekend! sososo happy Paul was able to celebrate with all of us and Adrian and Mom had a lovely weekend!

its a lovely saturday and on the agenda is:
-clean, design, and organize my room
-maybe go to lunch with Rima Alsayed? she's in town with Katya to visit Colin!!!!
-probably going over to Krista's to accompany her while she's healing from her wisdom teeth removal surgery!

I'll write more later.

I leave you with this:
enjoy your day my friends!

first day of summer post

reporting from the second day of summer:
apparently what is below was not saved and published, so here it is and I will continue to the second day of summer. that is so technical, I do apologize.

hey hey hey! so today is the first day of summer for me. naturally I slept in until 10:00 AM and I was anxiously waiting for Pablito to come in from Kansas City. when he did get here it was pouring down rain which was nice but chilly, mainly unexpected? rain is my favorite weather, that's a reason I belong in Seattle. well with my brother Adrian and Paul we went to the mall to go shopping for their bachelor party weekend for Turbo's wedding. after some walking around and dealing with the chaos of barton creek (bleh) and other things we all went to CPK for lunch. dad and adrian's other best friend carl joined us as well! after lunch we drove home and watched The Bodyguard! wahoo wahoo wahoo! Whitney Houston y'all, gotta pay your respects. anyway after that I decided to go over to one of my best friends Lindsey's house (so many memories from last summer are in that beautiful HAUS) and cook for the girls, well just Krista and Lindsey, sadly Cassandra couldn't make it! BUT we will see her soon! it was absolutely lovely and it was so fun making my friend's Lauren Thraser's famous recipe. though Lauren if you are reading this ... I decided to not put the soy sausage and I used mushrooms. it was just as good! it was so great to catch up with them and I can't wait till the four of us are back together in full force again.

so it's friday friday! and I am sitting here at my house. this morning at 6:50 I had to take my sister is FedEx Office to get her things printed, I then took her to school around 7:45 and returned at 8:00...only to fall asleep until 12:10. I got caught up on my Gossip Girl and I know I should have waited for sissy but I couldn't help it. I think I should clean the kitchen today, or right now? But I'm hungry so I will cook some breakfast....at 2:30 in the afternoon? In two hours I have to pick up sissy from school and we will proceed to have a traditional friday night: I cook something delicious and we watch one maybe two movies. though I do have some obligations to attend to: CLEANING ORGANIZING MY ROOM. its a mess and I hate messes so when I pick up jacqueline I will probably go and get on that. I like the idea of a summer to-do list. maybe I will post here what I come up with? okay great thank you for reading.

talk to you later.

home sweet home

hello everyone,

so here are the things I have completed this week and I feel as if I must share with you all immediately:

-FIRST: done with finals and first year of college! waiting on grades but so far so good! absolutely no complaints! I definitely gave it my all and I know that so I am proud.

-moved out of the dorm! so that means that camille and I bid our farewells (and were completely dramatic in the process) and parted for the summer! definitely going to miss have HER as my roommate.

-decided that HE shouldn't be in my life anymore...I think? and discovered that this summer should be to devoting time to finding myself. honestly who cares anymore about being something for something. im young, adventuresome, and live in (well I did before I came back to austin) one of the largest cities in the country, gotta live it up right? also I learned that I am entirely more open to anything that comes my way.

-my birthday is coming up and I have to decide what exactly I want to do with that. naturally, I don't want anything to happen on that day other than eating, sunshine, and movies. I don't want to spend any money. possibly make some art?

-unpacking will be hilarious and don't know what I am supposed to do with all of these clothes, trinkets, and dorm supplies. no idea, does anyone have any ideas....? well I was thinking of selling back all the nice old clothes I don't want anymore, donating the sheeshy stuff, and recycling and reproducing all the rest.
-I dyed my hair black. This is the first I have ever gone this dark. I have always dyed it "darkest brown to dark brown black" whatever you want to call it but here I stand with BLACK and I MEAN paint it black hair. I love it actually. I automatically embrace more confidence and I need that this summer. Especially since I lack some when I am back home (not my house but in austin).
-there are a lot of things to look forward to this summer and I will most likely post about them tomorrow on the "first day of summer" post. I have a lot of ideas so that's pretty thrilling.

oh hey! my great friend (who looks like a much better looking cooler hipper stylish funner Jason Schwartzman) Alex Segura recommends the Coog Radio 1st ever Compilation. If you are tired of what you are listening and want to ride the chillwave some rap cool music ride then by all means, this is for you, please click here.

anyways it is summer now and I must unpack. oh guess what! my brother's best friend Paul is coming in from Kansas City tomorrow and I AM SO BEYOND EXCITED. first of all, this man means more to me than a lot do. he is to this day considered a second brother to me and I can't tell you how long it has been since I've seen him. so get this: my dad, brother, uncle(s), cousin(s)?, and PAUL oh and TURBO, who is getting married and that's why paul is coming for the bachelor party are all in the same frat: phi kappa theta. confused? im not and quite frankly this is my mind so that's what matters, right?

okay I really should unpack all my sheesh. it was lovely writing this in Austin, Texas tonight and I will continue later on in the day (because it is 12:12AM now)

wahoo peace and love namaste.

its May!

may is always a special month for me. first and foremost, it the month of my birth! (mark your calendars for the 18th!/just kidding I DON'T WANT anything except the company of whoever wants to give me some, the unconditional love of your being) ! also it is the month that we taureans are out and on fire. this is the month the earth is connected to us! and our ruling planet, Venus spreads all the love she bears to us.

there is so many thrilling events happening in my life. I also registered for the first round of ACC: FINISHING BASICS! can't wait to get that out of the way plus I got the first set paid for, what a blessing to have such lovely and giving parents!! but more so, I was offered a chance to work with the Mexic-Arte Museum on South Congress as a curatorial intern! I can't tell you how e x c i t e d I am. there are no words, life is happening for me, and I am so excited to have this experience and opportunity!

update: SCHOOL IS ALMOST OVER. I have till the 9th so that is 6-5-4-3-2-1 days! AH. almost out of cougar village. (thank goodness) ! tonight i'm going to submit my art history paper, finish my POLS & astronomy notecards MUST MAKE GREAT GRADE ON FINAL IN ASTRONOMY, and work on a practice final for alg...I learned that I had an 89 in that class and I want an A, so i've decided to take the final (I could of exempted from it) so I can get that A. im just that dedicated, haha! during high school you would of never of seen my typing that, or heard me saying that. I love how life has evolved. today camille is at work and i'm here in the dorm trying to get all of this done!

im currently downloading this email my grandmother sent me about paris architecture! she knows me FAR to well. and it is the motivation I needed for art history ! wahoo! im also listening to paolo nutini on spotify and it just makes me want to go to Scotland/Ireland and visit the roots of the Morans in Mayo. there's the rest of my life to do that, I got time, I'm just ambitious.

Coffee, writing, and art

bonjour chats!

today has been completely interesting and it's going by so rapidly ! so last week when I was writing about how I was feeling ill well I FIGURED IT OUT. during that dreadful week of bronchitis, camille had an allergic/ regular reaction to Allegra D. and I mistakingly took that instead of my basic Clartin and had the SAME reaction. blah so that is why I was so miserable!

anywho today was the last day of classes for the semester. ANTHROPOLOGY is DONE!!! I took the last exam today and was done with it! I am going to miss Professor Sheppard! Being a professor and an anthropologist, she really gave me an insight into my minor and exactly what I want to do with it. If you ever get a chance to read her book, Health, Healing and Hurricane Katrina by Immani Sheppard than do so! yeah, I gave her a good review! everyone in that class was so insightful.im going to miss Rima Alsayed.....

well I have to go work on that essay over the mfah's collection of romanticism and post-impressionism.
oh well going to work on that essay.
MUST FINISH BY TONIGHT.

Been a long time

hello long lost readers,
I appreciate your patience during this HELL week. I know my absence has been alarming to you (just kidding I'm not that cocky), but nevertheless I'm here and ready to spill out all the anguish and exhaustion from my week. well on sunday I drove in from Austin and I had one of the most concentrated moments of the week: I planned out everything to a T. literally every minute of my day was planned due to the quizzes, tests, papers, and final exams coming up. I got through most of them out of the way but I still have 11 quizzes, 2 papers, 3 exams left. Not too bad considering most belongs to art history and anthropology BUT STILL have that huge astronomy test coming up.
one crummy thing that happened was that my cough has arrived again (due to unknown causes) ! Trying to get better as soon as possible/ not get anyone sick (again...ahem camille).
now I am about to get deep, partly because camille isn't in the room and I can be completely alone in here and just THINK out loud. ya know? well I noticed last weekend when I went to Austin that I was bringing a lot of things from the dorm back home. and leaving the room so empty was a revelation to me: a) I am finally leaving cougar village for the summer, I'm packing up my things in 11 days and getting out of here. b) as much I didn't like the dorm I have to admit...living here helped me realize that I've accomplished so much here. c) all the people I've met ... whoa it hit me how much I am going to miss them.

well I am going to take a nap. sorry this is so short but I will write more later...yeah I probably will. okay goodnight! at 5:32 on a Friday!

l i f e

This week has been great. Though, I've been stressed with last minute papers, exams, and quizzes/homework assignments...I've still managed to keep sanity.

Last night for example I saw S L E I G H B E L L S.

To be honest I felt like I was a rockstar...(in the crowd of course). People were nuts at this show man. She crowd surfed, I got punched in the ribs, I got closer to Katelin Durbin than I ever thought I would. It was a touching time it really was! I'm happy I went! The people who opened for them? Elite Gymnastics and Javelin. I LOVED both for different reasons. Elite Gymnastics were obscure, hilarious and all over the place to be honest I have no idea what they were saying and how they were standing up because they looked crazy. Javelin was just my cup of tea: fun, exciting, and real head bouncy. I liked that I was able to dance to all of them. Sleigh Bells have been receiving a lot of hype since their SNL appearance and their latest album. I feel as if that a lot of the audience really liked their old music and not their new music. Is that just me? Who knows? I guess we all hold our own opinions! ...It was a wild night "Rill Rill" was a riot. I felt like I was in a dream. Overall it was a great night, even if my ears were ringing at the end of it.

What to do for school this weekend:
-STUDY STUDY STUDY for Astronomy
-Start Art History paper 3/4
-Do Art History extra credit assignment
-Do Political Science extra credit chapter quizzes
-Do Math homework, quizzes, and Practice Test 5
-Interview for Anthropology (2)
-Anthropology Assignment IV

This weekend I am going home to Austin. I think it is hilarious that I need to get away from Houston and go to Austin to get away from distractions. I am so excited to go home because I can bring a lot back from my dorm and to see my siblings: I MISS THEM SO MUCH. There is no one on this earth I love more than Adrian, Javier and Jacqueline. I'm excited to be back in the 49. So I think I will get off for now and possibly write more tonight. We wil see I have to go to the MFAH today for some painting analysis and I will most likely let you know how that goes. Yeah....so thanks for reading this yo. Have a good day! Go run around be outside see the world chase your dreams and be happy. I'll try if you do.

ParentAMs

Today I was inducted into the honor society of Alpha Lambda Delta! I am really excited to be apart of this organization and it is nice to be recognized for hard work, ya dig? So my parents came down for the ceremony and it was so GREAT to see them! We ran a lot of errands such as: Car Inspection-Check! Car Registration-Check! FAFSA application-Check! completing Cambridge Oaks Apartment signing-Check! Eating a fabulous meal at Kenny & Ziggy's-Check! Today was honestly really fun and it is always a pleasure seeing my parents. A&M are such fun and hilarious people it's inspiring. I'm so blessed and proud to be the daughter of such great parents. Here are some pictures:

Well I have three more weeks here for my freshman year at UH. Gotta get crackin' on that homework, studying, and preparing for a hard three weeks. I have tests and homework and quizzes and papers! UH THE JOY OF BEING A COLLEGE STUDENT.

Lazy and Productive?

well camille and I woke up around 12:30PM today and we were like "uhhh...we slept in?" BUT did we...? No, because we went to bed at 2:30! so only got roughly around 9 hours. normal right? I don't know...I had a lot left in me! oh well today we woke up like I was saying...and we had a photo shoot on the other side of 45. here are some of my favorites and highlights:

AND we went job hunting for camille. we had to travel over to the galleria area because that is where she will be living from June onward. so first stop was the infamous texas art supply! I think camille would ROCK at this job. first of all, she's a graphic designer major...second, ITS TA. texas art supply is a mecca. a mecca for art freaks like us! then we went next door to the most adorable nursery ever! I really want her to work there because of the candles and table cloths. HUZZAHHH home decor! then we went on to PETCO I didn't go in but I went to DWS next door. that was hilarious because there was like 50 shoes on a 70% sale. never put in me in a situation with shoes and sales. NEVER i'll be insane. next up was barnes and noble which was really convenient because I needed to get some more moleskines. I really want her to work there too. yikes...too much places. then we went to eat at the Grand Lux Cafe. we both were really hungry and got cheese pizza. AND BEIGNETS. haha too much food, too many calories. but at least we had water, right? well after we ate we came home and that was around 6:45-7:15 ish? then I crashed till about 10:45 and have been up and on the computer since then. maybe I should try going to sleep considering my parents will be here around 9:30 tomorrow?! yeah I should get to bed! lalalala goodnight world sleep tight.

Friday the 13th

hello everyone,

SO last night was great, just so great! ... I had a girls night with MY gal FRANDS. We talked, laughed, ATE (I ate a lot as usual), and really just enjoyed each other's company. I am so happy to be surrounded by such intensely happy girls. Everyone needs a great set of girl friends to tell everything with and I can just tell that we can ALL do this! It's only the beginning. I HAVE ONLY JUST MET THEM and I feel as if I want to share everything with them! Time can't be measured at all, we have nothing to lose. This is OUR TIME TO SHINE we are the l a d i e s of the world. Hahaha I love that FOTC shout out. What do you do with an Aquarius, a Taurus, a Virgo and a Scorpio? A WHOLE BUNDLE OF JOY. We are so happy. I AM so happy right now. YAY for loving and adoring friends, this is only the beginning of our lifetime and adventure with each other. We are so blessed and so lucky to have each other. We can see the world.

SO my arrival from this wonderful night was such a complex one. I come to my dorm to notice my friend Parker having what appears to of been an elaborate discussion with Camille. YAYYY!!!! The Circle of Greatness is forming. That carried until 1:30 AM and then BAM: Fire alarm. It was a real fire on the 3rd floor on the north side of Cougar Village. Well, not a REAL fire but like....smoky foggy smoke? Haha. Anyway, it was around 1/2 AM by then and IT WAS FRIDAY the 13th. SO of course the creepiest thing happened: A MAN dressed as a CHICKEN walks out of nowhere and started smoking a cigarette. He had the creepiest mask/tarp thing over his face and it looked like he was from the STRANGERS. Can you imagine how crazy of a roller coaster my night was? It started off lovely and happy to scared and frightened. I hate stuff like that. Congrats, you ruined the night, YOU CHICKEN. Just ask Rima Alsayed. We were flippin'. Straight flippin'. HAHA. I just think it is so so funny.

What else is new? Well, today I am going to be art gallery exhibit for my sweet friend Hilarie Hamblin. That will be fun! Maybe some Pride and Prejudice later?! Maybe. I might be feeling Synecdoche, New York. But we will have to see. This is a tough decision. Right now, I am just listening to music and researching home decor and food recipes? What else is different? NOTHING. So, I am going to pop my popcorn and drink water. Oh I have to take a shower. Right, I should do that. Well I better get going then...? Ha I don't know I'm really hungry. I should fix all of these minor problems and start doing something productive. lalalala have a lovely day.
